In Cécile Davidovici and David Ctiborsky's collaborative practice, two key words echo each other: matter and memory. In their work, matter preserves traces of our bodies and our ancestors, and translates the perception of long time as a discrete matrix of the world. This long time is that of the patience inherent in embroidery, but also that of the more ambiguous scenes depicted by the duo. In an imaginary world first modeled digitally before being materialized through thread, Davidovici and Ctiborsky probe the links between the symbolic and the material, the organic and the technological, the living and the inert. In these hallucinatory landscapes, human constructions float between ruin and regeneration, between collapse and organic healing. Humans, living among others, are sometimes absent, and sometimes spectators discreetly inhabiting a world suspended between beauty and a silent threat.
